AngerThis is my all time favourite grandma’s tale which I think will strike a chord with all of us who have a “normal relationship” with our spouses. And by normal I mean relationships where flames other than those of passion erupt often enough.  The other factor that makes this story a rock of support (especially when you’re tearing your hair in despair over a recent flare up) is the fact that my grandmother swears that this is a story about people she knew.

Just opposite my gran’s house lived Mr. and Mrs. Dey. They fitted the definition of an ideal couple to the letter t. In fact they were often reffered to as the ideal couple and, everybody who knew them wished their marriage to be modeled after Mr. and Mrs. Dey. Living down the same street were another couple. Mr. Mrs Alexander. If marriages are made in heaven I’m sure there are some that are made in hell.

BoysandgirlsSince co-education has been such a fact of life for so long, it would appear that many classmates go on to get married. A few do, but the strange thing is that most of us, when we sit to think about it, realize that while we may become very close to our class mates, we rarely consider them as suited for marriage. It appears as if those who we perceive as marriage material are quite different from those we share lunch with in the college canteen, or with whom we go on school excursions.

“I think that classmates are really fun – they know you through some really difficult and some really happy times. All the while we are growing up in college, its great to have boys around,” says Deepti, a young student of engineering. “But its tough to take them too seriously. When you are used to teasing each other, or playing pranks on each other, its hard to get all serious one day, and say, ‘Lets get married!’”

MunnabhaiFilm : Lage Raho Munnabhai
Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Vidya Balan
Director: Raju Hirani

Looks like sequels have come to stay in Bollywood. After the success of a sequel like Krrish, the good news is that the sequel to  Munnabhai MBBS is as good a watch as the original.
Munnabhai ( Sanjay Dutt) is back with his antics as  the bhai of ‘akkha Mumbai’ with close aide Circuit ( Arshad Warsi) by his side. This time Munnabhai’s imagination is captured by Jahnvi (Vidya Balan) a radio jockey, whose  voice captivates the don so much that he decides to enter a Gandhiji contest just to be able to meet her at the radio station.

The only problem is that Munna and Circuit dont have a clue about Gandhiji and though Munna wins the competition using  some arm twisting  tactics with local teachers and professors who answer for him, he lands himself in a soup when invited to address a group of old men on Gandhiji’s ideals. And all because he tries to impress Jahnvi by saying that  he is a professor and a great Gandhi fan !
