A Love without conditionsHow often have we heard the words ‘unconditional love’ in the context of parent-child or grandparent-child and just accepted that there is such a thing as love without limitations.. But when it comes to love in marriage, isn’t it something, that most people feel, exists only in movies and books. I for one, do believe that unconditional love is a phenomenon that is pretty rare in marriage.

Is it because we humans tend to demand from others what we are unwilling to give ourselves?. If we haven’t been able to love ourselves as we are, pimples, warts, bulges and all, how then can we extend that kind of love to anyone else whose faults are inevitably obvious to us?

Dare to be differentIt’s a popular location for honeymooners and holidaymakers, but for some reason you want to be different. There may even be genuine concerns or reasons- your spouse can not bear the cold of a hill station; the high humidity or sea breeze may be a challenge to some frail constitutions and cause health problems. But now there could even be an economic justification for what we are about to suggest.

We stumbled on it quite accidentally, while on a test drive to Kodaikanal for a photo shoot of a Ford car. The location and scenery was a compulsion- common reasons enough why people visit hill stations, besides the climate. But if you are on a one day visit, why pay double the room rate when you can stay at the foot hills enjoy better food and wider variety of better and healthier food at almost half the cost?

The Mechanics of LoveFor eons this illusive emotion called love has held the human race spell bound with its magical charm. The thinkers among us have long tried to find the answers to why we love the people we do, with varying degrees of success. However, the one thing that we are absolutely sure about is that it is not Cupid’s doing. Unless of course he has kept abreast of the latest medical research and decided to dip his arrows in phenyl ethylamine before shooting them.

Scientists have also done extensive research on love. They have discovered what they describe as a love map in the human brain. According to them it is these “love maps” that determine our choice of partners and also the kind of relationship we have.

NishabdFilm : Nishabd
Starring : Amitabh Bachchan, Jiah Khan, Revathi, Naseer
Director : Ram Gopal Varma

Nishabd was in the news long before its release, creating the adequate hype required for audiences to go see it in the theatres. The subject was a bold one, that of a elderly man falling in love with his daughter’s friend, and everyone was agog on how the Big B was going to perform this one.

But the movie does not disappoint, even though it doesn’t create any great waves. Amitabh is the father of a young girl, happily married to Revathi, his wife of many years. In walks Jiah, an eighteen year old friend of his daughter and slowly things begin to happen.
