Tale of the PartingJohnny Hart, the creator of B.C comics, has a cave man with a dictionary in occasional comic strips. One of the definitions given by this man, Wiley, is ‘Depart: de white line down de middle of de hair’.

When it comes to hair, the question of the parting is crucial. Often, as in the words of Shakespeare, parting can be ‘sweet sorrow’ because it is the one spot on one’s head where one is most likely to lose hair. Partings become so ingrained among one’s hair roots that a whole lot of hair seem to be committing suicide at that particular point out of sheer frustration at the monotony! Thus, while this hair suicide is on, the parting becomes broader and broader. Changing one’s parting every now and then is important to retain the narrow view of one’s scalp that is more attractive than a wide-angle one.
