Summer chillers Summers mean different things to different people. But in India they sure mean hot, sweaty days, an ever parched throat and a constant need to keep cool. Food takes the back seat even for the most avid foodie and a cool, refreshing drink is considered more desirable. So, here are some tested and tried, hassle free and simple to make summer chillers for you. So, sip, slurp your way through summer.

Mango Smoothie With a desi touch(serves two)

Ingredients

Hung curd- 1 cup
Ripe mango pulp- 1 cup
Sugar-to taste
Water- ½ cups

Method:

Put everything into a blender and blend to a pouring consistency. Pour into tall chilled glasses garnish with a few mint leaves. Serve chilled.

Fruit punch

Ingredients

Weak tea- 2 cups
Orange juice- 1cup
Pineapple juice- 1cup
Crushed ice-1 cup
Ginger ale-1/2 cup
Lemon ring-1

Method:

Mix all the ingredients except the crushed ice in a bowl. Half fill a tall glass with crushed ice. Pour in the mix. Garnish using the lemon ring. Serves, two

Nimbu Pani with a twist

Ingredients

Chilled water-1 glass
Caramelised sugar syrup- 2 tbsp
Roasted jeera powder-1/2 tsp
Black salt powder-1/4 tsp
Crushed ice- ½ cup
Lemon juice-2tbsps

Method:

Mix water, lime juice, ginger juice and sugar syrup. Mix well. Half fill glass with crushed ice pour in the mixture. Sprinkle the roasted jeera powder and black salt on top.
