Perfect hairstyleLong and lustrous mane is a common feminine desire. That’s what I thought till I found out men’s obsession with tresses. Though not everybody may opt for length in this very fast paced life. Yet, it is an undisputed fact that hair and hairstyles play a vital role in adding to the overall personality of the individual. As Charles Chaplin writes in his autobiography, “Hair is vitally personal to children. They weep vigorously when it is cut for the first time; no matter how it grows, bushy, straight or curly, they feel they are being shorn of a part of their personality.”

So, a well chosen hair cut or style can enhance or take away from your personality. The best hairstyles are those that compliment the bone structure of the face. Here are some tips to help you choose haircuts that result in creating looks that turn heads.

Strong relationshipSo your relationship has ended and you have moved on – or at least, that is what you should have done, in theory. But as you go about your day-to-day actions, you realize that your ‘ex’ haunts your life in more ways than one. It is not unusual to seethe with anger and resentment towards some aspects of your former love. But it is also not unusual to miss them like crazy, and think of them every other moment…

Between these two extremes there are still more predicaments associated with your ‘ex’. Here are some things to keep in mind if you are recovering from a broken relationship.

TrustSometimes, life asks of you a certain honesty that you find difficult to give. Merely because that bit of honesty may take a huge slice of hope out of someone life. That’s what happened to me when D, my young friend of 24 years, called me up today. “People have been saying that Rajesh has been unfaithful to me. I don’t believe it because he’s said things to me which he can never tell another soul. And if it is true na, I will die. You tell me. Is it true?”

That first nightAs a starry eyed adolescent, fed on a diet of Mills & Boons, I had secretly nurtured fantasies of the day my knight-in-shining-armour would charge onto the landscape of my hitherto closeted life and rescue me from what I perceived as the drudgery of my existence. My dreams carried me to a place where mind-blowing physical chemistry triggered by my man’s brawny charm and intensely passionate disposition, would create a world where one thing would lead to another. And then would arrive the mother of all nights – our wedding night!

The KissCome to think of it, why do they make such a fuss over a kiss? It took many decades for this form of communication between couples to find acceptability on the Indian screen. While it was always taken for granted that Western couples kiss, both off-screen and on it, many self-appointed guardians of Indian culture claimed (and still do) that the kiss was not relevant to the Indian way of being. However, any look at the ordinary interaction that people have amongst themselves belies this grim interpretation. Kissing a baby – whether on the cheeks, or on the forehead, or top of the head, is a natural form of expressing love in our culture. While open depictions of kissing may not be a part of contemporary culture, references to kissing can definitely be found in our ancient texts and sculptures – the Kama Sutra alone is said to have over 250 kissing references, if one is to go by the testimony of renowned art historian and curator Dr. Alka Pande.
