Fashionable bridesThe adage “thin is in” seems to be loosing ground to a more realistic woman who does not sport an anorexic look. However, fat is still out. What is more acceptable though is a healthy, good-looking woman who loves herself for what she is - body, mind and spirit.

This concept has been widely accepted by fashion designers, fitness gurus and plus sized women alike. And this acceptance is evident from the increasing number of plus size clothing stores, which even have designer lingerie. So, finally the time has come for larger women to celebrate themselves.

So, if your big day is not very far away and despite all the best slimming programmes you have put yourself through you have not been able to lose enough weight (or so you think), you need not despair. Just read on………

In the days when brides from certain parts of the country only wore sarees and the other option was lehenga choli there was not much reason to worry. Because as far as sarees were concerned it is a “one size fits all” and lehenga cholis could be designed to conceal all the extra flab. But nowadays the range of designs to choose from is much wider and the modern bride no longer wants to stick to the traditional wedding attire so, the plus size woman sometimes ends up being a little disillusioned.

Here is the first piece of good news. According to Mr. Pradeep kannan, who heads the designing department of an export house ” The most important thing that one needs to remember is that though it is a fact that both plus sized women and their skinnier counterparts can wear similar clothes yet, the former cannot wear the same type of clothes as skinny women.  For instance, though both can wear jeans. But, the plus size woman should avoid wearing hipsters.

Another thing that is best avoided by plus sized women is halter necks. Very short tops is also a complete no,no. This is because very short tops leave the bottom exposed and no matter how fashionable you look tyres hanging out of your waistband do not make a pretty sight. ”It is wiser to choose dark colours with a matte finish as they tend to make one look slimmer by camouflaging the flab successfully. Bright colours, large prints and horizontal stripes should be avoided like plague.

Wearing a single colour or shades of the same colour help to create an illusion of height. Concentrate on the fit of a garment rather than the size if you are going in for a ready made garment. Avoid wearing clothes that are either too tight or too loose.

Use material that clings to the body. Try using thicker and flowing fabric to create a flattering look.Is your tummy a problem? Well here are some ideas on how to make the belly area look slimmer. Wear tops with lower hem and necklines and the waistline should be smooth and well fitting. Trousers that zip at the side and are smooth in front help to give the tummy a smaller flatter look. Pleated skirts and pants make your hips look broader. So they’re best left out.If you like wearing sleeveless clothes make sure that the armhole is cut away from the end of your shoulder.

So, the moral of the story is plus size or not when choosing clothes do not be overly concerned about what you should be wearing. Rather concentrate on choosing clothes that you are comfortable in.
