Wedding food menuIf your reception is going to be in a hotel, restaurant or other facility that provides food, you will need to select a meal to serve your guests. Most of these facilities will have a predetermined menu from which to select your meal. There are usually many different menus to choose from and a range of prices. If your reception is going to be in a facility that does not provide food, you will need to hire an outside caterer. The caterer will be responsible for preparing, cooking, decorating and serving the food. Again, there will be many different choices of food and a range of prices.

There are many options available as to the actual food service. Food can be served either buffet style or as a sit-down meal. It should be chosen according to the time of day, year, and formality of the wedding. Another thing to keep in mind is the ages of the guests. If there are a great many elderly individuals or children, a sit-down dinner is usually the better choice. Although there are many main dishes to choose from, chicken and beef are the most popular selections for a large event, followed closely by salmon. Ask your facility manager or caterer for their specialty. If you have a special type of food you would like to serve at your reception, select a facility or caterer who specializes in preparing it. One of the new trends is to go totally ethnic, focusing on the cuisine from a particular region or country. Many catering services even have the servers dress in the traditional garb of that country.

MILsWe all know and understand that we will all meet a few people in our lifetime that we do not get on with. But it’s hard to ignore or disassociate yourself from your mother-in-law.

The chances are that people would have noticed your dislike for her, so trying to hide it will get you nowhere. Of course this doesn’t mean being nasty is going to work either, but actually understanding what it is about her that you dislike will help you in the future.

Your husband wants to see his whole family unite. How do you think it makes him feel seeing the two most important women in his life bicker and argue on sight? A few guidelines and tips can help you to get along with your mother-in-law, after all she isn’t going anywhere so you’ll just have to live with her – you can make it easy or hard for yourself.

Marital conflictMarital conflicts are part of every marriage. Conflicts do not signal trouble or the end of the marriage. Domestic squabbles enable the couple to voice their differences in opinions and find resolutions or common grounds to compromise. There are no hard and fast rules advising how to solve every marital conflict. You can use any one of the four techniques or vary their use for adding variety and credibility to your sincerity towards solving your domestic sprat.

One technique is to practice the active listening therapy. This is more than just listening. Listen with your brain. Make sure the clogs in your brain are turning to decipher what the actual problem behind the complaint is. It helps you to re-state your partner’s grief by emphasizing what you think you heard back to him/her. Sometimes, it takes another person to make the other realize how ridiculous/silly then original dispute was when the quarrel is stated matter-of-factly. Viola! The conflict is dissolved somewhat sheepishly but exercise the restraint not to gloat over your victory.

Western style weddingIf you’re looking to have a theme to your wedding but not quite sure how to make it special, what do you need to know? This is a list of some interesting theme ideas for your reception and how you can make them happen.

If you want to add a special flare to your wedding, try a theme that is important to both you and your future spouse. This theme truly can be anything. But here are a few ideas for you to consider.

Western-style wedding

Deck the groom and groomsmen in cowboy boots and hats, maybe even a bandana. Add western-style gowns for the bride and her bridesmaids and you’ve got a western wedding. You may also want to bring in horses for a nice touch. Maybe you and your spouse will travel from the wedding to the reception in a horse-drawn carriage. Consider even having barbecue at the reception, and plenty of square dancing and country-line dancing to entice the crowd to get into the western mood.

Ethnic wedding

If you’re African-American, Asian-American, or have some other deeply rooted heritage, how about an ethnic wedding? Wear gowns that highlight your heritage. Make sure the groom and groomsmen are wearing ethnic clothes, too. Decorate the church and reception hall with items that would characterize your theme.

Weight LossThe big day will be here before you know it. Be sure you feel you’re best with these four weight loss tips.

Wedding weight loss is a common concern for brides-to-be, as they wonder how in the world they’re going to fit into the dress of their dreams. Whether you’re a fast-paced executive, laid-back entrepreneur, or a stressed-out grad student, the following wedding weight loss tips could prove quite beneficial for any schedule:

1) Drink Water

I know you’ve heard that drinking at least eight glasses of water can lead to a glowing complexion and improved digestion, but boy…isn’t it hard? Counting the amount of water you drink on a daily basis can become rather tiresome. However, it will pay off in the long run with faded dark circles under your eyes, flushed body fat, and a decreased appetite. In order to meet your recommended quota:

• Keep a bottle of water beside your bed – drink ½ of it before you go to bed and finish the rest as soon as you wake up.

• Carry a bottle of water around with you and sip it throughout the day.

• Before each meal, drink ½ to 1 bottle of water.
