Destination WeddingProject Wedding has a free personalized wedding checklist? Make sure you have all your tasks completed on time.

One Year Before:

  • Choose a location, taking into consideration your wedding style and guest list.
  • Send out save-the-date cards early, so guests can budget for travel/time off and get their passports ready.
  • Call a tourism office for more destination-specific information.
  • Make sure your paperwork is up-to-date and that you have all the documents needed (birth certificates, passports, travel visa, etc).
  • Research the marriage requirements of the country (i.e. documents, public notices, and residency requirements).
  • Consider a wedding package as a low-stress option. Services of a planner are often included, as are the services of local vendors.
  • When hiring a wedding planner, find one who specializes in destination weddings or who is based in your destination location.

VideographyCapturing the bright smile on your face, glowing skin, and the twinkle in your eyes – a photographer or videographer is hired to make sure you never forget the memories. In some cases, couples opt to spend the extra money to hire both a photographer and videographer, but is it really necessary? Perhaps the following information will help you formulate your own opinions on the pros and cons of both selections:

The Pros of a Wedding Photographer

Choosing a wedding photographer means you will have easy, instantaneous access to the results of your special day – meaning no fumbling to stick the DVD into the player. All you have to do is retrieve your precious photo album and flip through the pages. Your photo album is portable, meaning you can share your memories with family and friends pretty easily. If you like to send emails with images to loved ones, photos are quite easy to transfer from one computer to another. All you really need is a file or a scanner.

Wedding BudgetWeddings are expensive! If your budget is becoming a nightmare, there are a few ways to trim the costs without sacrificing your dreams or the comfort of your guests.

The Cake

Wedding cakes can be a ridiculous expense, especially for large guest lists or if you have your heart set on an extravagant design. Renting a display cake is a popular option that could cut at least a couple hundreds  from your budget without foregoing the perfect cake. Other couples save by ordering a small cake with an elegant design, as well as a less costly sheet cake for serving.

The Dress

Your wedding dress is often the easiest place to overspend - but also one of the easiest areas to trim costs. Take the time to shop around. Bridal discount stores, eBay, and similar locations will sometimes have your dream dress available for a fraction of the retail price!

The Menu

Food usually consumes the biggest portion of your budget. Consider finger foods or desserts instead of a sit-down meal. Backyard barbecues are a great way to save if you want to feed your guests a full menu.

SPASPA – the name spells pampered luxury and relaxed languor. It is about being soothed and made limp by massage and therapy. So much for a decadent splendor; ever thought about how they originated?

The word SPA is an acronym for Roman phrase- `Senus Per Aquam (healing through water). It was originally meant as a recuperative session for the battle scarred soldiers Who immersed themselves in `hot springs’ and baths called `aquae’ to soak away their aches and pains.

Modern day spas are not very different from the original. They too aim to provide complete body solutions that concentrate on relaxing, restoring and rejuvenating the mind, body and soul.

With increasing stress and mounting tension it is even more imperative to detoxify the body from accumulating pressure. SPAs give you an opportunity to de-stress and relieve your mind from the pressures of everyday life.

Wedding MenuOne cannot think of a wedding without a wedding feast. That is one concept that the human community agrees upon unanimously. In fact in my experience I have seen that a number of times, one of the reasons why weddings are remembered is because of the mouthwatering and finger licking food that was served.

This in itself is proof of the fact that planning the wedding menu successfully requires a lot of expertise. The whole proposition becomes even more challenging when one has to plan a great menu within the constraints of a “not so generous” budget.

One of the first decisions one needs to take is where is the wedding going to be held? This is because the choice of venue has great impact on the freedom that you will have in deciding the menu. In case your reception is going to be held in a hotel, restaurant or a kalyana mandapam that provides food, you will need to select a meal to serve your guests from the set menus that are available.
