Blue toneWinter wedding colors can go with the theme of the season by incorporating icy tones, jewel tones, or holiday colors. They can be used as contrast against a sometimes bleak and colorless time of year or to play up a winter wonderland theme. They are generally cool in tone, though warm-toned accent colors can add interest to the overall appearance of the ceremony or the reception hall.

Ice and Snow

You can play up winter’s icy beauty by choosing to use delicate baby blue, shades of gray and silver, lilac, periwinkle, navy blue, and white. Want a winter wonderland theme? This is the color palette for you.

You can use navy blue or periwinkle as the trim on your dress, for example, and then have your bridesmaids wear that color.

Add silver and white into the decorations and consider giving the bridesmaids pearl or silver jewelry to wear in the wedding.

Winter LookMost people prefer summer months to winter ones. Summer is synonymous with sun, outdoor activities, breezy clothing, and a radiant, seasonal tan. Winter is known for freezing temperatures, icy road conditions, layers of thick clothing, and cracked, dry skin.

While you cannot control the weather, you can control your look. This winter, do not sink into the cold weather blues, warm up your style with these 5 tips to transition your look from summer to winter.

Toss the tanner:

Holding onto the self tanner is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Winter means shorter days, and less sunlight, so who is going to believe that you have a fresh summer glow in the middle of January?

Instead of looking streaked and orange, try using blush to warm your face. Having perfectly flushed cheeks will give you a believable winter glow. If you absolutely feel that your skin is too pale during the winter months, try using a bit of tinted moisturizer for a little added color. This is a much better alternative to glopping on the tanner, or damaging your skin in a tanning bed.

Diamond ringChoosing a wedding ring isn’t really as simple as pointing to the one in the window that looks prettiest. Jewelry, especially a diamond is a major investment just like buying a house or a car. There are a few things that you need to know so that you get a stone that is not only beautiful to look at; it is also a true gem of value beyond sentiment.

Just like you may need the assistance of a good mechanic to help you check out a car before you buy it, you may need the help of a good gemologist or an honest jeweler to help you find your special gemstone from among the many pieces out there. Like any industry they have their own jargon. You don’t need to learn all their terms but you do need to become familiar with the four C’s of a diamond’s quality.

Cut is the first and most important C in choosing diamonds. There are two aspects that determine a diamonds cut. The first of which is the shape of the stone. This aspect is quite literally the geometrical shape that the artisan has chosen for the stone in order to bring out the most of its inner beauty. The stone can be shaped into your basic round or into fancy ones such as the oval, marquise, pear, emerald, princess, asscher, radiant, heart or triangle.

AccessorisingAccessories add interest to an outfit, they make it look special and they also hold the whole look together and make it look finished. You will notice some people are masters at accessorising and can make a very plain outfit look really amazing and stylish by adding the right accessories. But how should you choose which accessories to wear with which outfit?

There are so many different accessories to choose from. They include shoes, bags, jewellery, belts, gloves, scarves, hats and tights. How you choose to accessorise each outfit will depend on the look you are trying to create. For example a simple little black dress may be accessorised for a party with patent black shoes, a silver clutch bag, a sparkly silver necklace and bracelet. A more casual sweater dress may be accessorised with some thick tights, boots, wide belt and chunky beads. The key to accessorising is not to over do it. Only wear one accessory that really makes a statement teamed with maybe two or three other more subtle accessories.
